HOST
INFORMATION
Canada
Thank you for your interest in organizing a Dance of Life workshop in your area. In an effort to avoid confusion about
travel and expense issues, please read the following for your information. Please feel free to contact Elise should you
have any questions (elisedivay@sympatico.ca)
Workshop Requirements:
The actual location of the workshop should be a room large enough to seat all the participants with sufficient space
to move around during the Dance. It should be available between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. usually on Saturday and Sunday.
A white board or pad and easel as well as refreshments (in the form of coffee, tea and hot and cold water) are most welcome.
There is a one and a half hour break for lunch and everyone usually brings something with them or goes out to eat. It is not
necessary to cater for this event.
Organizing the Workshop:
It is important that the organisation,
expenses and compensation are clear to the host before setting up a workshop.
The date and place of the workshop
are then discussed according to Claire’s and the host’s availability.
Should the host need any type of
promotional items, Claire will gladly send publicity in the form of flyers, posters, and/or email flyers to the host.
An activation CD is offered with
every workshop so that participants are able to continue working with the Dance of Life at home. The cost of the two-day workshop
is $200.00 CDN. The cost of a two-day workshop is $300.00 CDN for couples, and $100.00 CDN for students.
A $60.00 CDN deposit by cheque (or $35.00 for students) is required upon
registration. The $140.00 will be given on the day of the workshop.
Should there be fewer than 5 deposits
two weeks before the workshop, the workshop could be cancelled. There are no deadlines to take registrations. However,
the cheque is non-refundable in case of eventual non-attendance without a valid reason two weeks or less before the
workshop. Nonetheless, if the workshop was to be cancelled, the initial deposit would be refunded in full to the participant.
Expenses
and Compensation:
In most cases, a minimum of eight to ten paying registrations ($200.00 each), confirmed through a deposit, are
required to make a workshop financially viable. The host will attend the workshop free of charge.
Claire is willing to compensate the hosts
for their work and give 20% of the net income from the workshop. Consequently, the 20% varies according to the number
of participants and the amount of expenses induced in organizing the workshop. Therefore Claire cannot assure the host
any set financial compensation but tries to be as fair as possible according to the proceeds from the workshop.
Inevitably, there are costs incurred when holding
any sort of workshop.
The following expenses will be then deducted from the total income:
v
Air/train fares to the
workshop.
v
Car travel expense (gas,
tolls, parking, subway, or associated expenses) and/or cost of car rental
v
Accommodation: hotel,
Bed and Breakfast…) for Claire and Elise, for three nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
v
Meals
v
Rental of premises
v
Miscellaneous costs
(mailing expenses, flyers, brochures, CDs, photocopying, etc.)
Organizing Atlantean Treatments :
The Atlantean treatments usually take place on the two days following the workshop ($60.00 CDN per treatment).
A comfortable place and a treatment table are required to welcome the people interested. Claire gives the host 10 % of
the net income from the treatments and a free treatment to compensate the host for organizing the treatments.
Related Events:
There are a number of events that can be held in association with a Dance of Life workshop. A Presentation (with question and answer period) can be held for anyone interested
in discovering and understanding the materiel discussed during the workshop. These usually take place from 7-10 p.m. and there
is a $10.00 CDN per person charge.
One CD is provided to each workshop participant,
and additional copies are also for sale at the workshop for non-participants ($20.00 CDN per CD).
We sincerely hope these
guidelines assist you in organizing the Dance of Life workshop. Please contact Elise (elisedivay@sympatico.ca) if we can be of any further assistance in making this a memorable event for everyone
involved.
